Genetics & Glaucoma: Implications for Optometric Practice

Glaucoma is a general term for a group of complex disorders that result in progressive degeneration of the optic nerve. It is a leading cause of worldwide blindness. Emerging genetic tests have been investigational but are now commercially available to inform patients of their risk assessment and provide optometrists and ophthalmologists with tools to improve patient outcomes.
